Cricket News sort by Bangladesh vs Pakistan 2nd Test at Mirpur - Dec 17-21, 2011

Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by a comprehensive margin in the Second Test at Mirpur to cleansweep the Series 2-0 but overall the team did not show any spark in its performance with the bat and the ball.

Barring a few lbw scares, Bangladesh looked in control of proceedings on the second day's morning as the overnight pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim batted sensibly. The pair saw through the second new ball and ensured that the Tigers did not lose a single wicket in what was a one and a half hour morning session under foggy conditions.

It was heartening to finally see Bangladesh put up some sort of a fight in a Test Match as was seen today at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. It was an inspiring partnership of 180 for the fifth wicket between Shahriar Nafees and Shakib Al Hasan that not only rescued the Tigers from a disastrous position

Pakistan eased to a 7-wicket win in the Mirpur Test chasing down the target of 103 in just 20.5 overs amidst fading light conditions. Shakib Al Hasan who scored a century along with capturing seven wickets in all got the Man of the Match award despite his team going down with a defeat.

Bangladesh quite disappointingly are heading towards yet another Test defeat after they slipped to 114 for 5 by close of the fourth day's play. They have lost the key wickets of Tamim Iqbal along with first innings heroes - Shahriar Nafees and Shakib Al Hasan in just a little over a session's play.

Pakistan decided to bat safely according to the merit of the bowling and thus the Dhaka Test match is heading nowhere towards a possible result. By the close of play on Day 3, the visitors steadily got to 292 for 3 in 96 overs with a run rate of just around three runs per over.

There was and abrupt end to the proceedings on Day 2 as well because of bad light conditions. Pakistan finished the day's play at 87 for 1 in 27 overs and trailing behind by 251 runs.

Bangladesh finished the first day's play of the 2nd Test at a healthy looking 234 for 5 in 68 overs. Former Skipper Shakib Al Hasan who registered his 2nd Test century remained unbeaten on 108 (from 168 balls with 14 fours).

The second and final Test between hosts Bangladesh and Pakistan will start tomorrow at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Bangladesh are under huge pressure to atleast draw the Test match as they are hugely under-matched to the Pakistani line-up.
